Be Better

Every day I figure out a little more of who I am and who I want to be. What do I do with this? How do I help shape the future? What is the best way to keep going the way I want to go?

These are all questions I ask myself every day. I want to be better than the person I was yesterday. Greater than the best I have ever been. How do I achieve all my dreams? By fulfilling one at a time. By taking one step at a time.

I didn’t grow up in the perfect home and I don’t have a perfect life -I never pretended to either. But I have learned from the mistakes of those around me and I have learned from my own mistakes. Every time we succeed or fail it is an opportunity for us to learn from it and grow from it.

Sometimes we do stupid things but the part that matters most is what we gain once we realize our stupidity. I believe our past shouldn’t dictate our future. We all have a past, some better than others, some worse. It’s our pasts that shape who we are as adults but they do not have to define who we want to be.

Think of it this way: someone grows up in a split home, divorce. That child can either grow up to believe or think that they will only have that fate or that child can grow up and be different, commit.

Just because our ancestors have been one way for years does not mean we are required to follow. There are so many examples all through the history books. Moral of the story: be your own person. Do not let the choices of others stop you from being the best version of you that you can be.

“Happiness can always be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” Albus Dumbledore- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Do not hide from your fears. Give yourself a fighting chance. Turn on the light and find your happiness. Be positive and focus on what you want. Negativity breeds just that. I have faith you will achieve your goals.
